Tripp is located in South Eastern South Dakota surrounded by farm land, smaller communities and close to Mitchell, Yankton and Sioux falls. Today, with a population of approximately 800, Tripp serves as a regional center of Hutchinson County, located at the intersections of Hwys 18 and 37 providing easy access to the region’s major transportation corridor. With a thriving city center, recently remodeled school and economical housing, Tripp provides a quality of life beyond compare. Tripp is a hub for a great deal of recreational opportunities.
With Tripp Lake hosting an abundance of fish species, there is always an opportunity for some great fishing, no matter the season. It is also enjoyed for its swimming, picnicing and boating. The Missouri River is 30 miles west of here with plenty of recreation, hunting and fishing. During the fall, Tripp is at the center of some of the best Pheasant, Whitetail Deer and Waterfowl hunting on the planet.
Tripp's school system is comprised of children from Tripp and Delmont S.D housed within a recently remodeled/expanded school. The High School is the home the Tripp-Delmont Nighthawks supporting Football, Basketball, Track, Volleyball and Golf teams.
The town has 3 churches, a grocery store, post office, Avera Health Clinic, School, Chiropractor, Bank, Public pool , Wellness Center, Restaurant, Lumber Yard, 2 Gas Stations, New & Used Store, 2 Auto Repair Shops, 2 Hair Salons, Massage Therapy, Library, Refurbished Furniture, etc
